
On July 14, 2025, at 1227 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a report of a basement fire in the 600 block of Riverside Avenue.
Time of Alarm: 1227 hours
On Scene: 12:30 hours
Under Control: 12:47 hours
FWFD Engine 1 arrived on scene and reported light smoke coming from an exterior basement door on a large two-story residence. Firefighters entered the four apartments and confirmed all occupants were out while other arriving crews entered the basement with a hose line and extinguished the fire. Other crews discovered the fire had extended up an interior wall, and extinguished the fire before it could spread further.
Five occupants self-evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival.
The fire is under investigation.
