FWPD: Suspect wanted in connection with April fatal pursuit

The Fort Wayne Police Department is looking for the public’s help in locating Brandon Tyrone Vershon Pearson, a 28-year-old black male.

Fort Wayne Police Department incident report:

Fort Wayne Indiana (July 10, 2025) – The Fort Wayne Police Department is looking for the public’s help in locating Brandon Tyrone Vershon Pearson, a 28-year-old black male. Pearson was the driver of a vehicle that fled from police in April of this year leading to a vehicle pursuit and culminating in a crash that killed Jamela Hathaway.

Pearson currently has active warrants for the following because of this incident.

  1. Resisting Law Enforcement fleeing in a vehicle causing death – Level 3 Felony
  2. Operating while intoxicated causing death – Level 4 Felony
  3. Reckless homicide – Level 5 Felony
  4. Driving While Suspended resulting in death – Level 5 Felony

Additionally, Pearson has an unrelated warrant for Neglect of a Dependent Causing Serious Bodily Injury a Level 5 Felony.
