The Northwest 2035 neighborhood plan reached a significant milestone this evening with tonight’s approval from Fort Wayne City Council.

Northwest 2035 neighborhood plan reaches milestone
Fort Wayne, Indiana (June 24, 2025) – The Northwest 2035 neighborhood plan reached a significant milestone this evening with tonight’s approval from Fort Wayne City Council.
Once signed by Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker, Northwest 2035 will be officially adopted and amended into the All In Allen Comprehensive Plan. The Northwest 2035 plan is a ten-year shared vision for the Bloomingdale, Hamilton, Lincoln Park Five Points, Nebraska and North Highlands neighborhoods.
“My heartfelt thanks go to the residents, businesses and community partners whose time and vision have helped shape this plan. Your dedication has created a robust roadmap for a safer, stronger, and more connected Northwest Fort Wayne,” said Mayor Tucker.
The City’s Department of Neighborhoods began working with residents, businesses and organizations in June 2023 and gathered input from stakeholders through surveys, focus groups, interactive mapping tools, neighborhood block parties and open houses. That input was used to develop the ten-year plan that outlines the strategies for neighborhood-based improvements in several areas, including:
- Improving safety and security through Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design projects.
- Improving connectivity by investing in walkable corridors and safer intersections.
- Revitalizing and activating commercial corridors, parks and civic spaces.
- Promoting inclusive growth by expanding housing options and supporting affordability.
“This vision is just the beginning,” said Dan Baisden, director of the Neighborhoods department. We now get to the exciting work of implementing the plan and investing in the northwest neighborhoods to improve the quality of life for all residents.”
