Trooper Ben Walker Awarded 5th Consecutive ISP Fort Wayne Post’s Top Drunk Driving Arrest Award for 2024

Indianapolis, Indiana (April 25, 2025) – On Tuesday, April 22 Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott presented Trooper Ben Walker with the Fort Wayne Post’s Top Drunk Driving Arrest Award for 2024. This award commends Trooper Walker for his dedication to enforcing drinking and driving laws on Indiana roadways. In 2024 he took 62 drunk drivers off the streets of northeast Indiana. Trooper Walker holds this achievement for the 5th consecutive year. The Fort Wayne Post Commander, Lt. Corey Culler says, “Trooper Walker’s commitment to removing impaired drivers from our roads shows his dedication to the safety and well-being of his community. Holding this title five years in a row is a testament to his professionalism and effectiveness. I appreciate his continued efforts in keeping Hoosiers safe.”

Trooper Walker made his way to Indiana by way of the Detroit Michigan area. As an entrepreneur and hard worker, he started his own lawn care business before he graduated high school. He has successfully continued this business for 15 years. In 2011 he started his law enforcement experience when he became a recovery scuba diver for Hillsdale County (MI) Sherrif’s Department. In 2016 he became a reserve police officer for Waterloo Police Department in Dekalb County Indiana. Trooper Walker’s time spent at Waterloo Police Department is where he began to love the profession. This love turned into a full-time career with the Indiana State Police in 2018 when he was accepted to the Indiana State Police Academy. His first assignment was the Toll Road Post. After serving there for a year, he was transferred to the Fort Wayne Post and assigned to the north zone of Steuben and Lagrange Counties. Trooper Walker is a Field Training Officer, a drug recognition expert and is a member of ISP’s Mobile Field Force (crowd control).

Trooper Walker is married and has four children. He says, “My biggest thing is my faith in Christ, and I love His outdoors, while enjoying it with the family”. His commitment to his community and family shows every day while serving the people of northeast Indiana.
