The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred on April 20, 2025, at 0159 hours, in the 5200 block of St. Joe Road.

Details/Summary:
The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash in the 5200 block of St. Joe Rd. At 1:59am, FWPD communications received reports of a crashed vehicle in the 5200 block of St. Joe Rd. Officers arrived and located a pickup truck that had left the roadway and collided with a utility pole on the west side of St. Joe Rd. The pickup truck was driven by an adult male who was the sole occupant. Medics arrived and pronounced the male deceased.
The only information available at this time is that the pickup truck was traveling southbound on St. Joe Rd. and for a yet-to-be-determined reason left the roadway on the west side and collided with a utility pole. The adult male was the sole occupant and no other vehicles or persons were involved.
Crash reconstructionists are currently processing the scene, taking measurements and collecting evidence to try determine what caused the driver to leave the roadway.
The identity of the decedent as well as the exact cause and manner of death will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.There is nothing further at this time.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
