WHEN: Sunday, April 20 from 12:00 p.m. (noon) – 3:00 p.m.

Fort Wayne, Indiana (April 14, 2025) – The Rescue Mission is preparing for one of its largest holiday outreach events of the year, its annual Easter Meal, to be held on Sunday, April 20th, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 404 E. Washington Blvd. Meals will be available in dine-in, carry-out, and drive-thru formats and are free and open to all members of the community. Guests may receive up to three meals per person.

In 2024, the Mission served nearly 4,200 Easter meals. This year, the organization anticipates serving over 4,500, providing not only a warm holiday dish, but a tangible reminder of hope, dignity, and care.

“Easter is a powerful reminder of redemption and renewal,” said Thomas McArthur, President & CEO of The Rescue Mission. “For many in our city, a simple meal can be the first step toward something greater—physical wellness, emotional healing, and ultimately, personal transformation. Human development begins with basic needs being met. When someone experiences kindness through a meal, it opens the door to deeper support, relationships, and the possibility of a new path forward.”

The Rescue Mission serves three hot meals a day, 365 days a year, made possible by the generosity of local donors, businesses, and community partners. Meals are also only possible because of the many volunteers who selflessly give their time every day to support the work done at The Rescue Mission.

“Meeting a person’s immediate need for food is just the beginning,” McArthur added. “It’s the first step in building trust, restoring dignity, and helping individuals see a future they may have thought was out of reach.”
