The Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to the 800 block of Lake Avenue on March 31, 2025, at 1837 hours regarding a reported apartment fire.

The first crews arrived on the scene in under two minutes and found a working fire in an upstairs apartment of a four-apartment structure. Occupants of the structure had self-evacuated prior to FWFD arrival, but FWFD did rescue three dogs and rendered first aid care to one. The pet was alert when Animal Control arrived on the scene.
The fire was brought under control in less than twenty minutes after arrival.

The FWFD was assisted by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, City of Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code Enforcement, and Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control.
