The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center is warning of an elevated fire danger today.
From the National Weather Service:
Fort Wayne, Indiana (March 14, 2025) – The combination of dry grasses and gusty winds is expected to create elevated fire weather conditions today.
Conditions expected this afternoon:
- Winds from the south at 15-25 mph with afternoon gusts to between 25 and 35 mph
- Minimum relative humidity 30-40% with highs in the 70s
- No rain has fallen since March 7th allowing the ground to dry out again
Be sure to have a water source nearby and ensure that any fires are fully extinguished as burning activities may quickly lose containment.
- Increased risk for grass, brush and ditch fires as well as campfires to spread out of control
- Have a water source readily available
- Ensure any fires are fully extinguished
