Details/Summary:
Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 3000 block of Drexel Ave on the report of a shooting. Officers arrived in the area to locate an adult female suffering
from what appeared to a be gunshot wound. Officers secured the scene and provided aid to the victim until Fort Wayne Fire Department and TRAA medics were able to provide a higher level of care. The female succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on-scene by paramedics shortly before 1:00 am. There is no threat to public safety.Detectives are speaking to witnesses, attempting to locate surveillance videos, and crime scene technicians are collecting evidence. This incident remains under
investigation by FWPD Homicide Unit, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
