
On December 2, 2024, at 1608 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a reported garage fire on the 6900 block of Selkirk Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Time of Alarm: 1608 hours
On Scene: 1611 hours
Under Control: 1632 hours
Upon firefighters arrival, a large fire was found in the garage and had possibly extended into the attic. Multiple hose lines were advanced into the structure to quickly knock down the flames. A quick search of the structure revealed nothing but a little later a deceased cat was found. All 3 adult occupants had exited the structure safely prior to the firefighters arrival. A large amount of overhaul had to be completed to make sure that all hot spots in structure were out. There was heavy smoke damage through out structure. Upon investigation, the fire was deemed to be started by unattended cooking in garage.
