On November 12, 2024, at 18:05 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department took Xavier Velez 18yoa into custody without incident in the 1800 block of E. Pontiac St. This arrest was in connection with the homicide of Corbin Cornett 18yoa that occurred on November 9, 2024, in the 1000 block of Huestis Ave, where FWPD Homicide Detectives were dispatched to the scene and conducted a criminal investigation. Velez is currently being held in the Allen County Jail on the preliminary charge of Murder. The FWPD Homicide Unit was assisted on this investigation by the Vice/Narcotics Division, Gang and Violent Crimes Unit, Aerial Support Unit, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
