News release from Healthier Moms and Babies:

Healthier Moms and Babies 8th Annual Diaper Dash

Fort Wayne, Indiana (September 6, 2024) – Healthier Moms and Babies will host their 8th annual Diaper Dash Family Fun Walk/Run to raise awareness for their mission of reducing infant mortality and improving the outcome of pregnancies in our community. Healthier Moms and Babies provides programs, resources, and education that help families lead their best lives. Join us as we raise awareness and funds to reduce infant and maternal mortality in Northeast Indiana.

Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 8:30am to 11am Healthier Moms and Babies will be hosting their 8th annual Diaper Dash walk/run at the Parkview YMCA, 10001 Dawson’s Creek Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN 46825. Dash alongside friends, family, and colleagues as you enjoy a laid back, untimed race, perfect for all running, walking, and strolling levels. Participants will leave from the YMCA pavilion and race down Dawson’s Creek Blvd, picking up along the Pufferbelly Trail. The full route is 5K, but there will be a shorter route available for those interested in a more leisurely stroll.

Participants are encouraged to consider bringing a box of diapers and/or wipes to donate to our families because 1 in 3 U.S. families experience diaper need. Monetary donations will also be accepted. There will be volunteers to help you through an online card payment on the morning of our event—or you can donate anytime at healthiermomsandbabies.org/donate.

The event will begin with a brief overview of the work Healthier Moms and Babies provides in the community. There will be day of registration which ends at 8:00. Visit our website for more details.

Healthier Moms and Babies offers comprehensive programs, including mentorship for expectant parents, in-home visits by trained nurses and Family Advocates, and essential mental health support. We proudly offer Doula services to support high-risk pregnant women during childbirth. Our programs also include serving non-pregnant women, empowering them to adopt healthy lifestyles to prepare for potential family life. We also facilitate the distribution of much-needed supplies such as diapers, pack-and-plays, and car seats to needy families. At Healthier Moms and Babies, our programs aim to reduce infant and maternal mortality and foster better birth outcomes across our community. Last year, our impact reached 1,200 families in our community. Our birth outcomes consistently are better than local averages, showing that mothers in our programs have better birth outcomes.

The Diaper Dash was made possible by the following sponsors: AEP Foundation, Anthem, Aqua IN, Ash Brokerage, F&M Bank, Hylant, IU Health, Lutheran Health Network, MD Wise, Medical Society Alliance, MHS, Navigate Maternity, Old National Bank, Omni, Women’s Health Advantage, and our Platinum Sponsor Midwest America Federal Credit Union. A special thanks to Prairie Farms Dairy and Trader Joes for providing drinks for our participants.
