On September 6, 2024, at 1116 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported house fire in the 1000 block of Hamilton Avenue.

On Scene: 1117 hours
Under Control: 1145 hours
Firefighters arrived on the scene and found a two-story house with flames and smoke coming from a second floor window. The home was under renovation and construction workers were able to self evacuate prior to the firefighters arrival. An aggressive interior attack was performed as well as a search of the structure. Twenty-six firefighters responded to the scene. The fire was brought under control in 28 minutes. The home suffered heavy fire, water and smoke damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
