Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 15, 2024) – Ethan Salas extended his on-base streak to nine games, but the Dayton Dragons (Reds affiliate) defeated the TinCaps, 14-3, on a wet Thursday night at Parkview Field.

Salas (No. 1 Padres prospect), as the designated hitter, walked and, in the ninth inning, knocked an RBI double. He also plated on a run in the third on a groundout.

Meanwhile, Fort Wayne (17-28, 45-66) third baseman Rosman Verdugo (No. 17 Padres prospect) tripled and doubled, hitting safely for a fourth consecutive game. Right fielder Joshua Mears singled and hit an RBI double in the ninth as well, stretching his on-base streak to a season-long eight games. Left fielder Tyler Robertson, in his first game back after a month-and-a-half on the Injured List, added a single, plus an outfield assist and an impressive running catch.

Otherwise, Dayton (27-18, 61-50) raked offensively. The Dragons totaled 18 hits, including seven doubles and two home runs. They steadily scored early and often two in the first, one in the third and fourth, two in fifth, one in the sixth, fourth in the seventh, one in the eighth, and two in the ninth.

The TinCaps wore their Manzanas Luchadoras jerseys and hats for their third and final Hispanic Heritage game of the season.
