Dayton, Ohio (July 27, 2024) – The TinCaps set a season high for runs as they won their second game in a row Saturday night at Day Air Ballpark, 13-4, against the Dayton Dragons (Reds affiliate). Catcher Ethan Salas (No. 1 Padres prospect) had three of the team’s 12 hits, including a home run and a double.

Fort Wayne (11-18, 39-56) matched its season high with seven extra-base hits with three doubles, a triple, and three homers. The ‘Caps also tied their season high for most runs in an inning as they plated seven runs in the top of the fourth inning, at that point breaking a 2-2 tie.

Dayton (17-12, 51-44) originally led 2-0 after scoring twice in the first.

Salas put the TinCaps on the scoreboard in the second with an opposite-field solo homer to the seats in left. Designated hitter Nick Vogt then knotted the game up with a sacrifice fly in the third.

The seven-run fourth featured an RBI triple from right fielder Kai Murphy, a two-run homer by center fielder Homer Bush Jr. (No. 8 Padres prospect), and a run-scoring single off the bat of third baseman Jay Beshears.

While the Dragons chipped into their 9-2 deficit with a run in the seventh, the TinCaps answered with four more in the eighth. First baseman Romeo Sanabria launched a three-run homer and Salas tacked on an RBI single to make it 13-3.
