Fort Wayne Falters on Fourth Eve

Lansing, Michigan (July 3, 2024) – Jagger Haynes had a quality start on the mound, but the TinCaps fell to the Lansing Lugnuts (A’s affiliate), 2-1, on Wednesday night at Jackson Field in front of a crowd of 9,917 fans.

Fort Wayne (4-8, 32-46) opened the scoring early. Catcher Anthony Vilar drew a one-out walk and advanced to third base on a single by first baseman Romeo Sanabria. Shortstop Jay Beshears (No. 27 Padres prospect) plated Vilar with a sacrifice fly to right field.

However, Lansing (4-8, 36-41) responded with a pair of two-out runs in the third inning.

The left-handed Haynes (No. 18 Padres prospect) worked six innings, striking out seven. This marked his fourth consecutive quality start.

Keegan Collett threw two scoreless innings of relief.

Nick Vogt led off the ninth inning with a single and eventually made it to third base as the tying run, but was left there as the game ended.

Sanabria was the lone ‘Cap with multiple hits.
