FWPD: Barricaded subject, 5200 block of Webster Street

On June 30, 2024, at 02:50 hours, the FWPD responded to the 5200 block of Webster Street in reference to a domestic disturbance where a male suspect was threatening residents inside the home with swords.

Details/Summary:

At approximately 2:50am, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 5200 block of Webster Street in reference to a domestic disturbance where a male suspect was threatening residents inside the home with swords.

When Officers arrived on scene, the male suspect refused to leave the home. After more information was obtained, Officers had reason to believe that this incident was now a hostage situation; where one member of the household was still inside with the suspect. Multiple attempts were made to compel the subject to come out voluntarily but were refused.

An Emergency Service Team, Crisis Response Team, and Air Support Unit page was sent. After EST’s arrival, the subject came out voluntarily. No injuries were reported on scene, but the suspect was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
