Game recap from the Fort Wayne TinCaps:
Tenderloins Toppled in Front of Sellout Crowd at Porkview Field
Fort Wayne, Indiana (June 22, 2024) – In the finale of this year’s Hoosier State Tenderloins Series presented by Indiana Pork, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers topped the TinCaps, 7-4, at “Porkview” Field on a 90-degree Saturday night in front of 7,302 fans. It was Fort Wayne’s seventh sellout crowd of the season.
Catcher Ethan Salas (No. 1 Padres prospect), center fielder Homer Bush Jr. (No. 8 Padres prospect), and designated hitter Griffin Doersching each had two hits for the ‘Caps, who wore their Hoosier State Tenderloins uniforms for a third consecutive night. Salas, who’s now on a six-game hitting streak, also had an RBI, while Bush stole his 31st base of the season – third most in the High-A Midwest League.
Right-hander Dylan Lesko (No. 3 Padres prospect) turned in a quality start, with three runs allowed over six innings with seven strikeouts, matching season highs for innings pitched and punchouts.
The TinCaps took a 1-0 lead in the first inning as left fielder Joshua Mears drew a bases-loaded walk.
However, Wisconsin (1-1, 43-25), playing as its alternate identity, the Udder Tuggers, tied the game in the second with a home run from catcher Ramón Rodrídguez and then went ahead in the fourth as Rodríguez went deep again. The Rattlers added a run in the sixth and created a cushion with a four-run seventh.
Fort Wayne (1-1, 29-39) fought back with a pair in the seventh and another in the ninth, even bringing the tying run to the plate before ultimately falling.
The loss snapped the TinCaps’ two-game winning streak.
