The Allen County Coroner has identified Rex D. Michel as the 15th Allen County Homicide in 2024.
News release from the Allen County Coroner:
On May 26, 2024, at about 21:10 hours the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified by a local hospital regarding the death of Rex D. Michel, male, White, age 83, from Fort Wayne, Indiana. On May 22, 2024, Rex D. Michel was transported to the hospital after sustaining injury from an in-home healthcare nurse.
An autopsy had been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin.
Rex D. Michel’s Cause of Death is Complications of Blunt Impact Injuries of Head, Neck and Right Lower Extremity, and Manner of Death is Homicide.
Rex D. Michel is the 15th homicide for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2024.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s office.
