Details/Summary:
On August 16, 2023, Sheldon Shearer arrived at his place of employment; a child care facility. He may have been intoxicated at the time. He became involved in a verbal and physical altercation with a twelve (12) years old child with autism. The child was injured by Mr. Shearer, which was witnessed by others. Mr. Shearer was terminated and the FWPD were summoned to remove and ban him from the facility. Detective Roy ‘RJ’ Sutphin, an investigator with the Crimes Against Persons Section (CAPS), was assigned to the case. Detective Sutphin later sent his completed case to the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for Mr. Shearer’s arrest, which occurred on May 13, 2024. Detective Sutphin was assisted by the Indiana Department of Child Services-Allen County, the Dr. Bill Lewis Center For Children, and the Allen County Sheriff’s Department-Warrants Division.
