Comstock Park, Michigan (May 9, 2025) – While the Parkview Sports Medicine Baseball Classic wrapped up Thursday evening in Fort Wayne, the TinCaps continued their road series against the West Michigan Whitecaps (Tigers affiliate) with a 6-3 loss at LMCU Ballpark.

Fort Wayne (10-20) shortstop Nik McClaughry gave the TinCaps a 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to score second baseman Nerwilian Cedeño. Both McClaughry and Cedeño had two nights on the night.

However, West Michigan (14-16) went up with a five-run fifth. With the score tied, 1-1, Whitecaps first baseman Luke Gold launched a grand slam.

The visitors cut the deficit to 5-3 in the eighth as Cedeño knocked a two-run single. But the West Michigan answered back with a run in the next half inning.

Bradgley Rodriguez (No. 28 Padres prospect) pitched two scoreless innings of relief for Fort Wayne in the sixth and seventh.

The TinCaps started their season 10-20 last year as well before eventually finishing 69-63 and advancing to the Midwest League’s East Division Championship Series.
