FWPD: Neglect of a dependent results in arrest

On May 2, 2024, FWPD officers were summoned to an apartment in the 4300 block of Joshua Lane after 9-1-1 had been called to report an unresponsive infant.

Details/Summary:

FWPD officers were summoned to an apartment after Kayla Devreax called 911 to report that an infant was unresponsive. Officers arrived along with Paramedics from the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority (TRAA). Lifesaving measures were performed on the child including the administering of antinarcotic medication. The infant mmediately responded to those lifesaving measures.

Detective Jason Brown was initially assigned as the Preliminary investigator. A substance that tested positive for fentanyl was found inside the apartment. The case was later transferred to Detective Michelle Brown, an investigator assigned to the Crimes Against Persons Section (CAPS). She submitted her case after a lengthy investigation, which resulted in charges being filed against Ms. Devreax. An arrest warrant was issued on April 16, 2024. Ms. Devreax was arrested on May 01, 2024 and is awaiting her initial hearing.
