Game recap from the Fort Wayne TinCaps:

Murphy and TinCaps Rally for Road Win

Dayton, Ohio (April 19, 2024) – The TinCaps overcame a three-run deficit to beat the top Reds pitching prospect and the Dayton Dragons, 5-3, at Day Air Ballpark on Friday night.

Right fielder Kai Murphy keyed the comeback, going 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs.

Meanwhile, Tyler Morgan earned the win in relief with four scoreless innings.

Dayton (6-7) scored an unearned run in the second and added two more in the third against Fort Wayne (6-6) starter Henry Baez.

Rhett Lowder started for the Dragons. Murphy hit a two-out, two-run double against him in the fourth. Then in the fifth, designated hitter Ethan Salas (No. 1 Padres prospect) lined a game-tying opposite-field single to left, chasing Lowder out of the game after 83 pitches. Lowder had entered the outing with only one run allowed in his first nine innings of the season.

Joan Gonzalez was the first man out of the bullpen for the ‘Caps, working two perfect frames.

The TinCaps took the lead in the eighth on a Murphy RBI-single with the bases loaded. Catcher Anthony Vilar added a sacrifice fly for insurance.

Fort Wayne has won consecutive games to even the six-game series so far.
