
On March 27, 2024, at 1659 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to the 5000 block of Roberta Drive for a possible structure fire in a residence when neighbors called 9-1-1 to report smoke.

On Scene: 1702 hours
Under Control: 1717 hours
FWFD Engine 12 arrived on the scene and found light smoke coming from a single-story small residential home. After gaining entry, firefighters found a working fire in the kitchen with charged smoke throughout residence. A thorough search was conducted, but no one was located inside, and the fire was quickly extinguished. Crews checked for fire in other locations as well as searched for a cat that was in the house, per the homeowner. The cat was later found and in good shape.
The fire damage was kept to the kitchen.
The cause appeared to originate from the kitchen stove area but is still under investigation.
There were no injuries.
