On February 28, 2024, at 2008 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the Mahony Foundry located at 642 Growth Avenue, in response to a reported fire.

On Scene: 2011 hours
Under Control: 2102 hours
Firefighters arrived and found a gas fed fire in the ceiling over one of the furnaces. Due to the molten metal, firefighters could not use water on the fire. The fire was contained to a small area with fire extinguishers. Firefighters worked with representatives of the business to fully extinguish the smoldering areas of fire.
It took firefighters approximately one hour to bring the fire under control. No injuries were reported during the incident. The building was in normal operation at the time of the fire and all employee’s self-evacuated with no injuries reported.
Firefighters remain at the scene to ensure that the fire is completely extinguished and that no further issues remain.
