On January 26, 2024, at 1146 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported house fire in the 8100 block of St. Joe Road.
Time of Alarm: 1146 hours
On Scene: 1149 hours
Under Control: 1228 hours
The first units on the scene found smoke coming from the structure and tried to make entry to search for the fire and any potential victims.
Additional crews arrived and assisted with the search and found one person in the structure, the person was removed and transported to the hospital where they later perished.
The fire was extinguished within 42 minutes of arrival.
There was also a dog and two cats that perished in the fire. One firefighter suffered a minor injury.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department was assisted by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, NIPSCO, Indiana Michigan Power, and the Allen County Building Department.
