
On December 29, 2023, at 0935 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a mobile home fire in the 4800 block of Bade Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Time of Alarm: 0935 hours
On Scene: 0939 hours
Under Control: 0950 hours
Upon arrival, firefighters found the mobile home heavily involved in fire. The owner was reported to have left, but there were multiple pets inside. Firefighters immediately began to extinguish the fire while simultaneously searching for pets. The fire was brought under control within 11 minutes and there was minor damage to a neighboring mobile home.
Two cats were quickly rescued and treated. They were handed over to Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control. Eleven other cats and two dogs perished.
There were no injuries to firefighters, and no occupants at home.
The fire remains under investigation.
