Details/Summary:
On Sunday November 19th 2023 at approximately 1151 hrs Officers were dispatched to the area of Babcock and Winchester regarding a fight. Initial comments stated several people were fighting, and a gold car was repeatedly ‘banging into a house’. The caller stated someone had just been hit by the car and then stated the vehicle was attempting to run over the officer that had arrived on scene. As a result, the officer discharged his service weapon, striking the driver. either the officer nor any other persons were injured and there is no further threat to public safety.
Several individuals directly involved in the incident have been detained and are being interviewed. This remains an ongoing investigation with the Fort Wayne Police Dept, Indiana State Police and Allen County Prosecutor’s Office. Winchester road between Babcock and Godfrey Dr will remain closed to vehicle traffic for next several hours.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
