On September 28, 2023, at 1700 hours, a kayaker discovered what appeared to be a deceased body on the southside of the Maumee River, around the 800 block of Tecumseh Street.

Details/Summary:
On Thursday September 28th, 2023, at approximately 5:00 pm, a kayaker discovered what appeared to be a deceased body on the southside of the Maumee River, around the 800 block of Tecumseh Street. Fort Wayne Police Department officers were dispatched to that area. Upon the officers’ arrival, a floating body was discovered, and soon after the Fort Wayne Fire Department confirmed the body to be deceased on the scene.
Fort Wayne Police Department, Fort Wayne Fire Department, and Department of Natural Resources, and the Allen County Coroner were called to the scene of the investigation. Fort Wayne Fire Department’s dive team was utilized.
