FWFD: Apartment Fire, 900 block Fulton Street

On September 3, 2023, at 0541 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to an apartment fire the 900 block of Fulton Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

On Scene: 0547 hours
Under Control: 0609 hours

When arriving on scene, the Fort Wayne Fire Department found a three-story apartment building with 19 occupied apartments. Smoke and flames were coming from a basement apartment on the northwest corner of the building.

This fire created heavy smoke which filled the top floors of the apartment building, requiring multiple rescues from windows using ground ladders. Seven individuals were rescued from the building via either ladder or the front door. Two of the victims were transported to local hospitals and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The other five did not need treatment or refused it at the scene.

The fire was brought under control quickly and crews then focused on the removal of smoke from the building.

There were no injuries to firefighters.
