Details/Summary:
On Thursday August 31st 2023 at approximately 1956 hrs Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a crash at the intersection of Dupont Rd and Parkview Plaza Dr. Based on witness statements a vehicle traveling west bound on Dupont Rd ran a red light striking a vehicle making a left turn East bound from Parkview Plaza Dr. One driver had to be extricated from their vehicle by Fort Wayne Firefighters. Both elderly drivers were transported to a local hospital where one was determined to be suffering life threatening injuries. The other driver was treated for minor injuries. Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be a factor.
This incident remains under investigation with the Fort Wayne Police Department Fatal Accident Crash Team and the Allen County Prosecutors office. Dupont Road between Diebold and I-69 will remain closed to all traffic until the completion of the investigation later this evening.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
