FWPD: Citilink Bus Life-Threatening Auto Accident, East Wallace Street and Clinton Street

On March 22, 2023, at 1303 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a traffic accident with injuries at East Wallace and Clinton Streets involving two Citilink Buses.

Time: 1303 hours

Details/Summary:

The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a traffic accident with injuries at Wallace and Clinton Streets at 1:03 PM today. Initial information indicates that a Citilink bus was traveling South on Clinton Street and possibly ran the red light at Wallace/Clinton colliding with another Citilink bus traveling West on Wallace St. The initial impact caused one of the buses to collide with a stopped black suv on Wallace St. and the other bus to strike a gas line causing a leak. The Fire Department and NIPSCO were on the scene addressing the gas leak.

An elderly female passenger of one of the Citilink buses was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and was later downgraded to life-threatening condition by hospital staff. Currently, no other injured parties are in life threatening condition. It is unknown at this time how many people reported injuries that were involved in the accident. The Fatal Accident Crash Team were paged to take over the investigation.

Please avoid the area of Wallace/Clinton as the accident scene is being processed and investigated. This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD Fatal Accident Crash Team and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
