On February 22, 2023, at 1130 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 6000 block of Bunt Drive after several people called 9-1-1 to report hearing gunshots.

Details/Summary:
On February 22, 2023, at 11:30am, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 6000 block of Bunt Dr. after several people called 911 reporting hearing gunshots. Officers arrived and located one female adult inside an apartment who had been pronounced deceased by Traa medics.
While officers were investigating, they received word that an adult male had arrived at the victim’s residence at which time the victim opened the door and was then shot. The victim’s husband was also in the apartment but not injured at the time of the shooting. The unknown suspect then fled on foot. Fort Wayne K-9 Officer’s and his K-9 conducted a track but was unable to locate a suspect at this time.
Crime Scene Technicians are currently processing the scene, searching for and collecting evidence. Detectives are going door to door trying to locate and witnesses and/or video surveillance.

There are currently no suspects nor suspect descriptions.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
The cause and manner of death as well as the identity of the decedent will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
There is nothing further at this time.
