FWFD: House Fire, 1100 block Wabash Avenue

On January 4, 2023, at 0221 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to the 1100 block of Wabash Avenue to a reported house fire.

Time of Alarm: 0221 hours
On Scene: 0225 hours
Under Control: 0249 hours

Upon arrival firefighters found light smoke coming from a small two-story structure with a single story attached to the back of the residence. Two adults and one child stated they smelled smoke and self-evacuated prior to the department’s arrival. Crews encountered heavier smoke in the upstairs. The fire was found to be in the roof of the single story, which opened up into the second floor, and was rapidly extinguished.

Two dogs were escorted out of house by fire crews to homeowner.

The cause is under investigation.
