Thick black smoke was seen from miles away against the clear blue sky. When firefioghters arrived, they found heavy fire involvement coming from the back of the house. Fire crews did a rapid check of structure with nothing additional found. Fire crews found a large amount of fire in the back three-season room, great room and kitchen which ere all rapidly extinguished. Water supply was initially a concern in the non-hydrant area, so tankers were started. However, due to the quick extinguishment they were not needed.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Occupants of the home were outside the home. Smoke detectors had alerted the occupants which enabled them to safely self-evacuate. One of the occupants stated that he was able to get four dogs out but that two were still inside. The two dogs were later found, but attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful.
