On September 18, 2022, at 2324 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 6500 block of Hackberry Lane, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

On Scene: 2326 hours
Under Control: 2351 hours
Firefighters found smoke coming from the home and the occupants outside. Firefighters entered the home and found a substantial amount of smoke in the residence. A small fire was located in the basement area of the home and immediately extinguished.
The residence was searched and multiple cats were located along with one dog. All animals had succumbed to the smoke conditions.
No one was injured during this incident.
The cause of the fire is under investigation at the time of this report.
