The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a moped accident which occurred at 2000 hours on August 28, 2022, near the intersection of Covington and South Hadley Roads.

Details/Summary:
The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a single vehicle accident, involving a moped, which occurred at 8:00 PM on August 28th, 2022, near the intersection of Covington Rd & S Hadley Rd. Preliminary information indicates the driver of the moped was traveling Westbound on Covington Rd., when he lost control and crashed onto the roadway with his passenger. Roadway conditions were dry at the time of the accident.
The driver of the moped, a juvenile male, was suffering from life-threatening injuries at the scene. He was rendered aid and transported to a local hospital. The passenger, also a juvenile male was released from the scene with minor injuries. Both juveniles were reported as not being equipped with a helmet. The Fatal Accident Crash Team made the scene and closed all traffic between Hadley Rd and Covington Commons Rd, while processing the scene.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department FACT team, Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
