TinCaps Take on New Identity for Hispanic Heritage Celebration
Manzanas Luchadoras Alternate Identity Set to Debut This Weekend

Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 5, 2022) – The Fort Wayne TinCaps will become the Manzanas Luchadoras de Fort Wayne this weekend at Parkview Field. The team’s alternate identity change, which translates to “Fighting Apples” in Spanish, is part of Minor League Baseball’s “Copa de la Diversión” (or “Fun Cup”) event series specifically designed to embrace the culture and values that resonate most with the local Hispanic/Latino community.

Manzanas Luchadoras will be hosting the South Bend Cubs, who will also take on their alternate identity as Los Calbritos Maldichos (the Cursed Goats), alluding to the Chicago Cubs’ infamous Curse of the Billy Goat.

Both teams will wear special jerseys and hats for this weekend’s games, in addition to other promotions. See below for more details on the weekend’s festivities, and click here for more background.

“We’re excited to give an extra embrace to the culture and values of our local Hispanic and Latino community this weekend,” said Morgan Olson, the team’s Assistant Director of Marketing and Promotions.
