On July 29, 2022, at 0018 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 400 block of West 4th Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

On Scene: 0020 hours
Under Control: 0041 hours
Firefighters arrived on the scene in 2 minutes and found moderate fire conditions on the first floor of the home. The fire was under control in 21 minutes. The home suffered heavy fire and smoke damage.
Two occupants self-evacuated and were in need of medical assistance. TRAA EMS arrived shortly after FWFD units and transported two patients to a local hospital in serious but stable condition. There were four cats in the home and they all perished.
Crews remain on scene for overhaul of the home.
The fire is currently under investigation.
