
On July 14, 2022, at 1819 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of East Pontiac Street and Fleetwood Avenue which resulted in the arrest of Melvin Green after a lengthy narcotics investigation.

Details/Summary:
On Thursday, July 14th, 2022 members of the Fort Wayne Police Department Vice and Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop on Melvin Green at the intersection of Pontiac St. and Fleetwood Ave. Undercover detectives had made previous purchases of Fentanyl and had established probable cause for his arrest. During the traffic stop detectives recovered 30 grams of fentanyl and 1.3 grams of marijuana.
On Thursday, July 14th, 2022 at approximately 6:19 P.M. members of the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Division served a search warrant at 2713 S. Harrison St. Undercover Detectives made previous purchases of fentanyl from Melvin Green. Those purchases combined with surveillance on Green gave the Narcotics division the necessary information to file charges on Green and obtain a search warrant for the 2713 S. Harrison.
Upon serving the search warrant at S. Harrison St., Detectives found an additional 9 grams of fentanyl, 3.1 grams of Heroine and less than 1 gram of fentanyl. Additional items found were two semi-automatic handguns, and $1600 in US currency and two scales. This is still an ongoing investigation with the Narcotics Division.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
