TinCaps (8-10, 35-49) third baseman Lucas Dunn broke a tie score in the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs, hitting a single to left field to score catcher Anthony Vilar from second base for what proved to be the game-winning run.

Left-handed reliever Ramón Pérez saved the game with a perfect ninth inning, including two strikeouts. He followed righty Nick Thwaits, who tossed three perfect innings.

Fort Wayne led 4-0 through three innings. The ‘Caps scored four in the third, thanks to a two-run double from center fielder Robert Hassell III, an RBI single by first baseman Cole Cummings, and a sacrifice fly from left fielder Corey Rosier.
