On June 10, 2022, after 1600 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the Economy Inn located at 3340 West Coliseum Boulevard in reference to a male subject that had called into 9-1-1 making suicide threats.

Details/Summary:
On June 10, 2022 shortly after 4:00 pm the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the Economy Inn located at 3340 W. Coliseum in reference to a male subject that had called into 911 making suicide threats.
Initially the male subject advised that there were 3 people inside the room and he also advised 911 that he was in fact armed with a gun and that if Officers attempted to come into the room he would start to shoot them as well as himself.
Due to this information the Emergency Services Team, Crisis Response Team and Air Support Units were all called to the scene. Upon their arrival Crisis Response Team members attempted to make contact with the subject and attempt to have him exit the room safely. The subject was very agitated as they began to speak with him and trying to establish a rapport. Negotiators were able to Deescalate the situation as they continued to speak with him until he agreed to exit the room peacefully.
Shortly after 6:30 pm The male subject exited the room on his own and was detained by Officers of the Fort Wayne Police Department without incident. The subject was transported to a local hospital for Medical Evaluation. At this time there are no criminal charges filed against the subject.
The Motel and the room have all been cleared and they have resumed business as usual
This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
