On April 8, 2022, at 1717 hours, the Fort Wayne Fire Department as dispatched to a house fire in the 5800 block of Montavilla Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

On Scene: 1719 hours
Under Control: 1730 hours
The first unit arrived in 2 minutes and found a two-story residential structure with smoke showing. The crew pulled a hand line and found a fire in the kitchen. Other crews arrived and assisted with controlling the fire and searching for occupants. It took 11 minutes to control the fire and no injuries were reported.
During the search a dog was found unresponsive and taken outside where fire fighters began resuscitation efforts. The dog’s condition improved before being turned over to Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control.
No other occupants were home at the time of the fire.
