Fort Wayne, Indiana (March 16, 2022) – Members of the Fort Wayne Police Department Crimes Against Persons Unit apprehended Mark Vincent Michels this morning in Garrett, Indiana without incident. This incident is in connection to a sex crime that was reported March 13th, 2022.
Suspect Arrested: Mark Vincent Michaels, 57 years of age, from Garrett, Indiana
Preliminary Charges:
- Rape
- Sexual Battery
- Strangulation
The FWPD was assisted by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, the Garrett Police Department, and the Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment Center.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
