On January 7, 2022, at 1940 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a residence in the 800 block of Lemonwood Court on the report of a disturbance involving suicidal threats.

Details/Summary:
On January 7, 2022, Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a house in the 800 block of Lemonwood Ct on the report of a disturbance involving suicide threats.
When Officers arrived on the scene, they made contact with an adult male subject armed with a handgun. Officer(s) fired, and the subject was injured. The subject was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No Officers or bystanders were injured.
At this time, investigators are interviewing witnesses and persons involved in the incident, as well as collecting evidence at the scene.
The Indiana State Police will conduct a parallel investigation with the FWPD regarding the police action shooting.
The involved Officer(s) will be placed on standard administrative leave to allow the investigation to proceed and give them time to cope with the traumatic incident.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Indiana State Police and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
