The Fort Wayne Police Department Homicide and Narcotics Detectives, along with the South Bend Police Department arrested:
Suspect Arrested: Robert Dashon James, 33 year old male, from South Bend, Indiana
Preliminary Charge:
- Murder, Felony Level 1
In connection with the homicide that occurred on Friday, November 5th, 2021 in the 5300 block of McClellan Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Victim, Tremaine Junior Barnett was found unresponsive, suffering from gunshot wounds in a motor vehicle where he died a short time later at a local hospital. Robert Dashon James was arrested without incident in South Bend, Indiana today (Monday, 12-13-21).

Details:
On Friday, November 5, 2021, at approximately 10:45 PM, Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were dispatched to the 5300 block of McClellan St. in reference to a possible shooting.
Upon arrival, Officers found an adult male in a parked vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Currently, there is no suspect information available. Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood and are speaking with potential witnesses. Crime Scene Technicians are searching for and collecting any evidence.
McClellan St. remains closed between W. Belmont St. and W. Fairfax Ave. while investigators process the scene.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim.
