FWPD: Critical Injury Motorcycle Accident, 2600 block Sandpoint Road

On August 20, 2021, at 2327 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to 2600 block of Sandpoint Road in reference to a motorcycle accident with injuries.

Details/Summary:

On Friday, 08/20/2021, at approximately 1128 AM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the area of 2600 Block of Sandpoint Road reference a motorcycle crash with injuries. Officers arrived on scene and observed a motorcycle off the West side of the roadway and an unconscious male, adult pinned under the motorcycle. The male was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary information indicates the motorcycle was traveling Westbound on Sandpoint Road when it lost control, leaving the roadway. Investigators reported alcohol and excessive speed appear to be contributing factors in the crash.

Sandpoint Road, between Genesee Avenue and Monmouth Avenue, will remain closed to all traffic while Crash Investigators process the scene. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
