On July 13th, 2021, at 5:56 pm, the Fort Wayne Police department responded to a two-vehicle traffic accident involving a trapped occupant at the intersection of Coliseum and Sherman Boulevards.

On July 13th, 2021 at approximately 5:56 pm FWPD Officers responded to a two vehicle traffic accident involving a trapped occupant at the intersection of Coliseum and Sherman. Officers located an extremely damaged nissan with the driver still pinned inside. The driver of the Nissan was removed from the vehicle by the Fort Wayne Fire Department and treated at the scene before being transported to a local hospital by TRAA with life threatening injuries. A short time after arriving at the hospital, the injured party was pronounced deceased by medical staff. Both vehicles were driven by solo occupants.
According to an independent witness; the driver of the black Nissan was traveling North on Sherman and the driver of the black Honda was traveling East on Coliseum. The witness advised that the Honda ran the red light at the intersection colliding with the nissan who was crossing the intersection at the time. The impact of the collision occurred on the driver’s side of the nissan causing the pin. The driver of the Honda remained at the scene during the investigation.
The intersection remained closed while the Fort Wayne Fatal Accident Crash Team processed and investigated the scene.
