Fort Wayne, Indiana (March 27, 2021) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to an apartment fire in the 4500 block of South Anthony at 1:52 am on March 26, 2021. The initial call indicated there might be a possible occupant still inside.
The first firefighters on the scene found fire coming from the windows in an apartment. Several crews with handlines attacked the fire and performed a search of the apartment. The fire had expanded into the attic and was quickly extinguished.
One victim was found in the apartment deceased. Crews remained on the scene for several hours for overhaul and investigation.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department was assisted by the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, the Fort Wayne Police Department, the City of Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code Enforcement, NIPSCO, and Indiana Michigan Power.
