Fort Wayne, Indiana (February 20, 2021) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a possible house fire in the 1100 block of Milton Street on February 20, 2021, at 7:01 pm.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the first floor of a two-story home.
All occupants had self-evacuated with one adult male receiving burns to both hands who was transported by the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority to a local hospital for treatment.
Fire crews extinguished the blaze and performed an extensive overhaul. The fire had extended into a 2nd-floor attic area.
The fire looked to be accidental in nature and was possibly started on a mattress inside the home. Investigators are still investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
The Fort Wayne Fire Department was assisted by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, Indiana Michigan Power, and City of Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code Enforcement.
